A Roman fort once stood here — today it survives as earthworks in Northumberland. The Albion Guide lists eleven Roman forts in the county; this is one of them. It sits inside Northumberland National Park National Park. For more of the same, Petty Knowes Roman Cemetery and Bagraw Roman camp are close by.
