Picton Castle sits in wooded grounds near Haverfordwest, a medieval castle first raised at the end of the 13th century and still lived-in for centuries after. The gardens run to more than 40 acres: an old walled garden, a warm “jungle” corner of tender planting, ferneries and woodland walks known for their rhododendrons. Castle and gardens are now run by the Picton Castle Trust, with the garden open daily. Haverfordwest station is the nearest, roughly 8km east.
