This is Strontian’s Church of Scotland kirk, one of the “Parliamentary churches” built to Thomas Telford’s standard design after the 1823 Act that funded new churches for remote Highland communities. The plain, economical plan is typical of the type — around thirty were put up across the Highlands and islands. You’ll find it in Strontian on the A861, on the north shore of Loch Sunart.
