St Tysilio’s sits in the broad Vyrnwy valley at Meifod, on a site old enough to have served as a burial place of the princes of Powys — the tombs of Madog ap Maredudd and his son Gruffydd Maelor are said to lie in the churchyard. The building keeps 12th-century work and an older carved slab. Open to visitors; Welshpool station is about 9km to the south-east.
