Kells Parish Church sits just north of New Galloway in the Glenkens, and it’s really the kirkyard people come for — a remarkable set of carved and inscribed gravestones, some with vivid folk-art scenes. The church itself is a plain Georgian box. The graveyard is open to wander any time; a quiet, characterful spot near Loch Ken.
