Whitemill Bay is a broad sweep of white sand along the north coast of Sanday, rated among the finest beaches in Orkney and usually completely empty. Like the rest of Sanday it’s reached by ferry or an island-hopper flight from Kirkwall — a fair old journey, but the sands are the reward for making it.
