Holywell Bay
Local highlightA wide beach of sand and dunes on Cornwall's north coast near Newquay, with two rocky islets offshore and a turn on television
A wide expanse of sand and dunes on Cornwall’s north coast, a few miles southwest of Newquay, reached across a big system of grassy dunes. At low tide the sand runs a long way out, with two rocky islets, the Gull Rocks, sitting offshore. People come to surf, swim and walk, and Poldark fans may recognise the beach and dunes from the television series, which filmed here. The South West Coast Path runs along the low cliffs above, linking Holywell to Crantock and the Fistral surf beaches towards Newquay.
