Aboyne is built around a broad village green, the open space that hosts the Aboyne Highland Games each summer. It sits at the eastern end of Royal Deeside — a comfortable base, with Ballater and Balmoral further up the valley. There’s no railway close by: Insch station is about 30km north, so it’s the A93 for most arrivals.
