Tate St Ives looks out over Porthmeor Beach and shows the modern artists who made St Ives a centre of British painting and sculpture — Barbara Hepworth, Ben Nicholson and the postwar group who followed. The building opened in 1993 on the site of an old gasworks. Paid entry. The station is a few minutes’ walk away, at the end of the branch line from St Erth.
