A deep, steep-sided hollow scooped into the hills a few miles north of Moffat, where Border reivers once hid the cattle they’d rustled. You look down into it from a viewpoint on the A701, and the sheer drop of the green sides is the thing to see. Open year-round; the layby makes it an easy roadside stop on the way over to Tweeddale.
