Below the ruins of Kildrummy Castle, an alpine and water garden fills a steep Donside ravine, using an old quarry face as a backdrop for the rock plantings and a water garden running along the burn. It’s a quietly lovely place in spring and autumn especially. Opening is seasonal and there’s paid entry, so check the dates before you set off.
