St Agnes was a copper and tin mining village, and its ruined engine houses still stand along the cliffs above Trevaunance Cove — Wheal Coates, perched right over the sea, is the best known. A steep street called Stippy Stappy drops from the village towards the old harbour site, all within the Cornwall AONB. Two pubs, the Driftwood Spars and the Peterville Inn, keep it going. Redruth station is about 7km south.
