Timespan is a museum and arts centre in Helmsdale, on the east Sutherland coast, covering local history from the Clearances to the 1860s Kildonan gold rush — when prospectors panned the Strath of Kildonan just inland, and a few still try their luck today. Alongside the heritage displays it runs contemporary art shows and has a café. Helmsdale station is right on the doorstep.
