One of the more out-of-the-way Munros, a Scottish hill over 3,000 feet (914m), Beinn Eibhinn stands at 1103m in the lonely country between Loch Ossian and Ben Alder. Getting to it is a long walk from any direction, and the usual approach is the train to Corrour and a backpacking trip in, often taking in Aonach Beag and Geal-charn along the same high ridge. The name means something like “delightful hill”, and the summit looks out over Loch Ossian and the wide moors of Rannoch. It’s remote, boggy underfoot on the approach, and a serious undertaking when the weather turns.
